Natural and manufactured stone
Natural stone is cut from real rock, so no two pieces are the same. Manufactured stone, also sold as cultured stone, is cast from concrete and coloured to look like natural stone. It is usually lighter and more consistent in size. Both can be installed on interior and exterior walls, and we help you compare look, weight and budget at the visit.
Alberta winters mean repeated freeze and thaw. On exterior walls the key is what sits behind the stone: a proper water barrier, drainage, and flashing at the top, bottom and around openings so moisture can get out instead of staying in the wall.
How the work goes
- Visit and measure. We look at the wall, check how it is built, measure, and agree the stone, colour and profile.
- Written estimate. Free, and back to you within 1 business day.
- Moisture and surface preparation. On exterior walls the layers behind the stone, drainage and flashing are set up first.
- Layout and install. Stone is laid out dry and blended from several boxes so colours and sizes mix naturally, then set with tight, even joints.
- Finish and clean-up. Corners, caps and returns are finished and the work area is left clean.

Every wall is different, so we price each job after we see it. These are the main things that move the price.
