Clearances and fireplace type
Every fireplace has an installation manual from its manufacturer that sets the minimum distance between the opening and anything that can burn, and which materials can sit around it. We work to those clearances. Having the model name or a photo of the fireplace label ready helps at the visit.
The look is up to you: stone to the ceiling, a stone chimney breast above a mantel, or a lower surround with a hearth. Layout is planned so the stone lines up neatly with the opening.
How the work goes
- Visit and measure. We measure the fireplace face, mantel and hearth, and talk through the look and the manufacturer clearances.
- Written estimate. Free, and back to you within 1 business day.
- Protect and prepare. Floors, the fireplace and the mantel are protected, and the wall surface is prepared for the stone.
- Layout and install. Stone is laid out dry around the opening so courses and joints line up, then set piece by piece.
- Finish. Joints, the hearth edge and corners are finished and the area is cleaned.
